{"id":369,"date":"2024-04-03T10:32:11","date_gmt":"2024-04-03T10:32:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/staging.knowledge-base.canapii.com\/\/index.php\/docs\/how-to-join-a-session-or-meeting-in-canapii\/"},"modified":"2026-03-24T08:45:06","modified_gmt":"2026-03-24T08:45:06","password":"","slug":"how-to-join-a-session-or-meeting-in-canapii","status":"publish","type":"docs","link":"https:\/\/staging.knowledge-base.canapii.com\/index.php\/docs\/how-to-join-a-session-or-meeting-in-canapii\/","title":{"rendered":"How to join a session or meeting in Canapii"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 style=\"font-size: 1.05em;margin-top: 10px;margin-bottom: 4px\"><strong>Joining a call<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>When a session is open for you to join on the home page, select the session tile and click \u2018more details\u2019 to be redirected to the session page.<\/p>\n<p>Here you will see a <strong>Join now<\/strong> button, the chat on the right-hand side and the session details\/description below.<\/p>\n<p>To join the call click <strong>Join now<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>When joining your first call, you will be prompted to give Canapii permission to access your microphone and camera to be able to speak\/hear other attendees of the call. Click <strong>Allow <\/strong>for both.<\/p>\n<p>At the start of every call a readiness checker will appear. Here you can select the appropriate microphone, speaker, and camera (you are also able to select the quality of your webcam).<\/p>\n<p>Once you have selected the microphone, speaker, and camera settings, we suggest that you double-check that the settings are correct within the preview checker. On the right-hand side you can:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>Check that your microphone is picking you up by speaking and watching the bar under <strong>Preview<\/strong> move as you talk.<\/li>\n<li>Check that the correct camera is connected.<\/li>\n<li>Check that the correct speaker is connected by clicking <strong>Test<\/strong> and listening out for the test sound.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>When everything looks good, click <strong>Join<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<p><em>*If you are running into issues i.e. you can\u2019t hear anyone or no-one can hear you, double-check these settings and make sure that no other program is using your mic. <\/em><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"font-size: 1.05em;margin-top: 10px;margin-bottom: 4px\"><strong>Changing settings in a call<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>While in a call you&#8217;re able to change your settings. In the top left side (numbers 1, 2 &amp; 3 within the following example) you can change your microphone, camera and speaker by clicking the dropdown arrow on the respective buttons.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"font-size: 1.05em;margin-top: 10px;margin-bottom: 4px\"><strong>Interface<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Image-2021-07-21-at-1.21.56-PM\" class=\"article-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/staging.knowledge-base.canapii.com\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Image-2021-07-21-at-1.21.56-PM.png\" style=\"max-width: 100%;height: auto\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Show\/hide attendee list<\/li>\n<li>Toggle microphone &amp; change settings<\/li>\n<li>Toggle camera &amp; change settings<\/li>\n<li>Toggle audio &amp; change speaker<\/li>\n<li>Raise hand<\/li>\n<li>Gallery view<\/li>\n<li>Screen share<\/li>\n<li>Whiteboard<\/li>\n<li>Timer menu<\/li>\n<li>Full screen<\/li>\n<li>Leave meeting<\/li>\n<li>End meeting for all participants (only available to hosts)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3 style=\"font-size: 1.05em;margin-top: 10px;margin-bottom: 4px\"><strong>Screen sharing<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>To screen share, click on the <strong>Screen share<\/strong> icon. In the pop-up screen select what you want to share, this can be your entire screen, an application window or a browser tab.<\/p>\n<p>If you want to play a video be sure to tick <strong>Share audio<\/strong> to have the audio play in the call as well (option will appear at the bottom of the page when selecting which screen to share).\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"font-size: 1.05em;margin-top: 10px;margin-bottom: 4px\"><strong>Troubleshooting<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>If you are experiencing issues hearing or speaking during a call, double-check the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Are any other programs using your mic?<\/strong> <br \/>Do you have another call open or perhaps the settings in Zoom or Teams could be using your mic?<\/li>\n<li><strong>Checking camera and microphone permissions in Chrome: <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ol>\n<li>At the top right, click <strong>More<\/strong> and then <strong>Settings<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Under &#8220;Privacy and security,&#8221; click <strong>Site settings<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Camera<\/strong> or <strong>Microphone<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Turn on <strong>Ask<\/strong> before accessing<\/li>\n<li>Review your blocked and allowed sites and make sure both camera and microphone are allowed to be used by Canapii<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Joining a call When a session is open for you to join on the home page, select the session tile and click \u2018more details\u2019 to be redirected to the session page.
